My Lord,
Government House, Victoria,
Hong Kong, May, 15, 1844
I have the honor to report that the Official Chinese newspaper called the "Tsing Wan Gazette" or "Teking Gazette" which is published two or three or more times a month, is now received at this Office and that Mr. [illegible: possibly 'Bristow' or 'Burstaft'] regularly examines it and makes translations of such portions of it as appear to possess any interest.
There is seldom news in it that is worthy of being specially submitted to Your Lordship and as the translations...
The Right Honorable,
The Earl of Aberdeen, K.T.
